STUDY ABROAD + SERVICE-LEARNING
IPSL programs combine academic studies and community service and full cultural immersion to give students a deeper, more meaningful study abroad experience.
For almost 30 years, IPSL has worked to promote intercultural understanding, deepen student learning, and provide help to those in need through service-learning. Our mission is twofold: to develop and promote the pedagogy of service-learning through advocacy, publications, and training, and to offer international service-learning programs for college and university students which uphold our high standards.
As IPSL has implemented our student programs and our various advocacy efforts, we have met more and more higher education institutions and leaders who have expressed a desire to join a network of institutions interested in the international and intercultural dimensions of service-learning—a network that would bring together those who have been active in the field for many years with those just getting started, and a network that would support and reflect principles of academic quality and reciprocity in service and learning.
We invite institutions to join such a network by becoming a member of IPSL.
As a member, you will join like-minded institutions in broadening the dialogue on international service-learning, engage in contact and collaboration with your peers around the world, receive information, ideas and assistance from IPSL, and have opportunities to provide your knowledge, experience, reflections and questions as peers to your fellow members as well as to IPSL as it fulfills its dual mission of advocacy and program development in the field.
Each Institution membership includes up to three individual members. In addition, by becoming a member, your institution will receive several other benefits:
We look forward to welcoming you as part of the IPSL network. If you have any questions, please contact Arianne Newton, our Director of Communications, Alumni and Institutional Relations at 503-477-9330 or email anewton@ipsl.org.
