SERVICE PLACEMENT CATEGORY

First Place - Emily Evans - "Little Bird"- Cusco, Peru. Caption: Katriana holding one of the birds at the animal sanctuary that was rescued from the black market.

Honorable Mention - Emma Newton - "Hairless and Hungry" - Cusco, Peru. Caption. This is a photo of Emily with Lato, the Peruvian Inka Orchid dog at the Santuario de Ccochahuasi. We were eating lunch in the little cafe and as usual the dogs joined us. Lato was very intent on Emily's avocado and tomato sandwich and they were having a stare down.

HOMESTAYS AND CAMPUS LIFE CATEGORY

First Place - Emma Newton - "Yellow Ball" - Cusco, Peru. Caption: While visiting the large Cusco Cemetery with my host family. I saw a little girl playing with a yellow ball. Amid the sadness that Cemeteries evoke a sort of Festive feeling was in the air as families, joked, ate and laughed. Flowers and plastic toys were noticeable as children ran through the tombs and families gathered together to reminisce and show their children their family history.

Honorable Mention - Emma Newton  - "The Boy in the Yard" - Cusco, Peru. Caption: This was taken on a walking tour of Cusco with our photography teacher. A little boy was playing in his yard while his mother nearby hung up laundry.  The houses in Cusco are behind walls which protect them from the street noise and dirt.
