Service-Learning: Living in Moscow, Russia

Study Abroad integrated with Volunteer Service Volunter in Russia, Volunteer Service Combined with Academic Study

Experience Moscow from a Local Perspective

One of the world's great cities, Moscow is home of the Kremlin, Red Square, St. Basil's Cathedral, the Pushkin Museum, the Bolshoi Theatre, and hundreds of other historic and cultural sites. It is also home to a Hard Rock Café and gated communities for "new Russian" millionaires. As the political and financial capital of a country that spans eleven time zones, Moscow is a thriving, bustling city of at least eleven million people, many of whom come from other former Soviet republics, seeking work to support families back home. Moscow is a city of contrasts-a place to see exquisite mosaics and marble statues in subway stations, and also elderly beggars left behind by the political and social transformation.

Housing

You live in a homestay with a Russian host family or in a residence hall on the grounds of the Moscow University for the Humanities. You may indicate a preference between these two options, but placement may depend on availability.
