Customized Service-Learning Programs in Manila, Philippines

Study Abroad integrated with Volunteer Service Volunter in Philippines, Volunteer Service Combined with Academic Study

Deeper, More Meaningful Study Abroad

An island nation located in Southeast Asia, the Philippines has long been a crossroads for Asian, European, and American societies, resulting in a diverse population of indigenous cultures with influence from Spain, Latin America, and the United States. In the Philippines, participants will experience a society that has a strong sense of its own identity combined with a varied and multicultural history. As they live and serve in the Manila metropolitan area, they will learn about and encounter firsthand the problems facing developing societies: urbanization, a growing population, economic and political contrasts, the making of a nation from scattered and diverse ethnic groups, and the position of small countries living in the shadow of economic giants. Participants may study Filipino language and Philippine society and culture along with their volunteer service.

Note: The safety and security of our students is our top priority. Some U.S. colleges and universities are not permitting their students to participate in study-abroad or service-learning programs in the Philippines due to the U.S. Department of State warning that is currently in effect. Please contact the study abroad or international programs office on your campus to learn your institution's current policy regarding study in the Philippines, then contact IPSL to discuss procedures for participation.

PLEASE NOTE: Customized programs are arranged for groups only, and are coordinated with college and university faculty and administrators and other group leaders, not with individual students. If you are an individual student, please see our core undergraduate programs.
