Academic Immersion Focused on Real Cultural Understanding

The program is based at Trinity University of Asia. The fully accredited university serves over 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students. English is the language of the classroom. English, Filipino (the national language, based on Tagalog) and the major provincial languages are spoken by students on campus. You will take two required courses and 2-3 electives for a total of 12-15 credits. A transcript is issued by Trinity University of Asia upon successful completion of the program.

Course Offerings

Filipino Language

This course teaches students the native language in conversational form, as well as basic reading and writing, and is a prerequisite to immersion in the community or partner service agency.

Philippine Society and Culture

Introduces basic concepts in sociology and examines major institutions in Filipino society – family, education, religion, politics, economics, and the media. Also examines communities, social behaviors and movements, and theories and approaches to social change.

Electives

You choose 2-3 electives (3 credits each) from the regular university offerings in subject areas such as: Literature; Philosophy; Political Science; Education; Business Administration; Health Care. For an additional fee, students may also participate in the Trinity University of Asia Center for Intensive Language Learning in English or Nipongo, or take music classes at the Asian Institute of Liturgy and Music.
